Is A 2nd Rebate Check Coming this Fall?

2nd Stimulus Check Appears to be Dead

Lost in all the coverage of the $700 Billion Bailout Package was news that Congress last last week shelved a bill that would have started the wheels turning on a 2nd Economic Stimulus Check this fall.

The biggest reason is that with Congress grappling with how to fund a $700 Billion financial rescue plan, no one had the time or stomach to find funding for another $50 Billion in Rebate Checks for Taxpayers.

It's conceivable the plan could be resurrected before the end of the year, but the Bush Administration has expressed no support for a 2nd Stimulus at any point, and Democratic support appears to be waning due to the incredible cost of the financial bailout.

Doesn't that Stink? Wall Street fails, so our hopes for another rebate check to help pay for gas and groceries goes out the window.

I was hoping we would actually get another check. When I learned that we needed congress to approve a $700 Billion bail out for our economy situation, I knew it was dead in the water!

Opinions are welcomed.....please leave comments.

Thanks!

American Idol News

It was announced in August that Grammy-Nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi joined American Idol as a fourth judge. She will sit alongside Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson at the judges' table and use her background as an award-winning songwriter and producer to praise or critique the wannabe hopefuls throughout the competition. The eighth season of American Idol premieres January 2009 on FOX.

Kara is one of the industry's most sought after songwriters and producers, DioGuardi's songs have appeared on more than 100 million records. Her songs have been recorded by Grammy award-winning artists including Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Santana and Pink. Scores of major recording artists including Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Pussycat Dolls, Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Natasha Bedingfield, Jewel, Ashley Tisdale, Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice, Clay Aiken, Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson, Kylie Minogue, Enrique Iglesias, Nick Lachey and Marc Anthony have also released DioGuardi's songs.

It appears that The "Idol" auditions are making Simon cranky, and so is fourth judge Kara DioGuardi. Read more here http://www.yahoo.com/s/962074

I must be hearing things!

Today hubby came home from work. I wasn't feeling too good, so it really didn't bother me. He went into our bedroom to stretch out on the bed for a little bit. Ok not a problem.

He has a habbit of calling out the channel numbers when he wants me to see what he's watching on TV. Ok don't have a problem with that at all. So today when I heard 24, I automatically changed the channel to 24......didn't see anything of interest, so when he came in the living room, I asked why he wanted me to put it on channel 24 and he said "I didn't tell you to change the channel!" OK strange as it was HIS VOICE I heard!

So I told him that I will not change the channel anymore unless I know for sure it is him who is talking to me. lol

No more strange happenings like before with the liquid on the stove, thank God, but that was a bit strange to me.

What do you think?

Woo Hoo!! I just noticed my page rank for this blog is a 2/10! I am so happy my blog is getting more popular! lol This is what I am working for. To give my readers what they want and to make my blogs popular so people will want to read them.

Do you care about Page Rank?
I ask, because when I first started with websites last year it was all about page ranking. I know several webmasters who talked about page rank how to's, but now I can hardly find anything about page rank. The higher your page rank the better your site was to be found in search engines. Now I wonder if that's still the case.

Anyway, I am happy to have my 2/10 page rank. 10 is the best you can be for those who don't know.

Digital Cable Problems since Hurricanes hit

Reactions:

Cox Cable is giving credit for 4 days from Sept 1st - Sept 4th due to Hurricane Gustav. I think that is fantastic.

Now my problem is we came home on Sept 4th and our cable had problems, the box had a problem coming on. I called like the next day and had a refresh signal sent to the box after I tried resetting the box because when I tried to go to my DVR list, it read to retry list or reset box, so I reset the box. Nothing happened, so I called a Tech. They sent a signal and nothing happened, so they sent a Tech out.

1st Tech came on Sept 8th said I shouldn't be coming off of 3 splitters and that I had a low signal. He would send in the paper work for me to set up a schedule for re wiring. Ok a week went by, no call, so I called them. They send out another tech. He says I have a low signal and he is referring my case to the plant (poll specialist) and so no problem.

The guy from the plant came out Friday. My signal is just fine and it's a box problem. He told me to have a TECH come out with a box and set it up just incase it wasn't a box problem the tech would already be here to trouble shoot. Well, that didn't work. lol They wanted $51 to do that! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!

Now I go today to swap out my box for another one. I am praying all the way home that this works. lol Well, I call Tech and the try to send a signal, nothing then the girl tells me the reason that happened was because I was disconnected. NO I AM NOT!

I hung up on her, called back by this time I am steaming mad! I talked to someone in billing who talked to someone in Tech for me. She also verified that I was not disconnected and don't have a disconnect date listed. lol I knew that! So the Tech sends me an activation signal. I was praying all the way and well, I am still without my DVR.

He set me up with an appt for a Tech to come out to test the wiring. I asked him if that would cost me if anything needed to be redone and he said no if something is wrong with their wire or equipment, it is on them to fix it. I had a Tech tell me I had to pay for it, that's why I asked. lol

I have gotten nothing but the run around since Sept 8th! I was credited $25 and that's fine. I am being credited from now until Oct 1st when my DVR box should be working again. I need to call and see if I am being credited for HBO and all channels above 77 as all I have is basic tv to watch now so I need those credits.

This has been my day, and the last few weeks.

I hope your's has been better.

Something strange is going on in my house

We have lived here since June 16th of this year. Never had a problem except the normal stuff, stopped up sink, etc. lol Not much to tell on mishaps.

We evacuated for Hurricane Gustav on August 30th. We came back home on September 3rd. Now that means my house was vacant for 4 days! Since we have been home we have notice strange things happening in our kitchen.

I won't tell every detail, I'll only tell about this evenings events.

We left to go to the corner store. We weren't gone but maybe 30 minutes IF THAT! My kitchen was CLEAN before we left, particularly my stove and the counter next to it. When we came home, there was liquid on top of my stove, not in a glass, but on the stove. I have a gas stove and the inlay for the 2 burners had liquid! It was a lite yellowish color and the 4 pot holders I had on the counter top next to the stove were SOAKED through!

We have an exhaust fan and light above the stove, but all that is dry. We have checked everything around the stove and above it and can't find anything that could leak. We have checked ALL cabinets and can't find any animal hiding.

We only have a dog, he is 14 years old and he can't get on top of the counter. We don't have a cat or any other animal. We don't hear any meow's like if a cat somehow got in the house........We are puzzled about what the heck is doing this.

Any opinions would be gladly welcomed.

Thanks

A Tribute to Jeremy Heines a son lost at war

Army Spc. Jeremy M. Heines

Heines died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his patrol came under attack by rocket propelled grenades and small arms fire.

Jeremy wasn't my son, he was my friends son, but I was very close to him and always thought of him as the son I never had. He is missed everyday.

Jeremy Heines _ nicknamed "Ketchup" _ was known for going out of his way to cheer people up, whether it was sneaking food to Iraqi children or helping a friend through war-induced depression. "I never really saw him in a bad mood," said fellow soldier Dejuan Williams. "He always would put a smile on your face. You could be having your worst day, and he would just say, 'Look on the bright side' or make a joke, and you would be out of that bad mood in just a second." Williams was with Heines, 25, when he was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade that punched through the windshield of his military vehicle during a firefight on June 26. Heines' fellow soldiers characterized him as a perpetually upbeat guy who planned to come back home to New Orleans and open a bar and start a family. Heines met his wife, Kristine Hanks of Florida, at Fort Hood, Texas, before they both were deployed to Iraq. They celebrated their first anniversary in Baghdad. "He was the most outspoken guy I've ever met about loving his wife," Spc. Christopher Jesseman said.
